I've been thinking a lot of french pastries. Not the Laduree type that might come to mind, but rather the daily mouthfuls of goodness that we find in all the coffee shops accompanying a nice thick, strong cup of espresso. Things like the madeline, le cake au citron, un cannelle, moelleux au chocolate, financier aux pistache. All these little bites bring along such pleasure to early mornings at the market, afternoon lunches with friends or the end of the day, before we start tackling the household chores that await. Here is a recipe from a friend that is very easy and lovely. It has accompanied us on many special occasions, big and small.
